The 'bulky' myth
You will not get bulky lifting weights. Building visible mass requires years of very specific training, huge food intake, and hormones women simply don't have in the same amounts. What you will get: leaner, stronger, more athletic, better posture, and more confident. The Corpus Christi women who lift at AE Fitness look like Corpus Christi women who lift, not bodybuilders.
The four lifts every woman should learn
- Squat, legs, glutes, core.
- Hinge (deadlift, RDL, kettlebell swing), posterior chain.
- Push (bench, push-up, overhead press), chest, shoulders, arms.
- Pull (row, pull-up progression), back, posture, shoulder health.
Why women over 35 need strength training
Bone density peaks in your late 20s and drops from there. Muscle mass drops about 3, 8% per decade after 30. Strength training is the single most effective thing you can do to protect both, critical for every Corpus Christi woman who wants to stay strong through her 50s, 60s, and beyond. It's also the single biggest lever for menopause-era body composition.
Want a coach to build the plan for you?
What a first month of strength training looks like
- Week 1, movement assessment, learn squat/hinge/push/pull with bodyweight and dumbbells.
- Week 2, introduce barbell to comfortable technique.
- Week 3, add loads, retest baseline lifts.
- Week 4, first real strength session; typical Corpus Christi client is already sleeping better and eating more protein.
