Why we cap classes at 4, 8
Above 8 athletes a coach can't watch every rep, that's a bootcamp, not coaching. Under 4 loses the class energy that drives adherence. 4, 8 is the sweet spot where the room feels like a team.

Everything that comes with it.
- 4, 8 athletes per class, always
- Coached scaling for every movement
- 6-week programmed blocks, not random WODs
- Unlimited class access on most memberships
- Free first class with movement screen
- Early morning, midday, and evening slots

Who small-group fitness is right for
Small-group is the best value in the AE Fitness membership. It's the right starting point for the majority of new members, people who want real coaching but don't need every session to be 1-on-1. It's ideal for busy professionals, parents, and adults who thrive on the accountability of a room full of familiar faces at 6 AM, noon, or 5 PM.
It also works beautifully as a supplement to personal training. Many of our clients do 2 personal training sessions per week and add 2, 3 small-group classes on top for conditioning, community, and volume. That combination delivers premium coaching results at a lower total cost than 4x weekly private sessions.

Who small-group fitness is NOT the right fit for
Small-group is the wrong choice if your goal requires fully individualized programming, competitive powerlifting meet prep, post-surgical return with strict loading parameters, or a body-composition sprint against a hard deadline. Those live under personal training, where the program is written only for you.
It's also not the right fit for the athlete who wants to work in complete silence with headphones on. Small-group has energy, music, coaching cues across the floor, athletes cheering each other through the last set. Most members love it; a small minority don't. If that's you, our training-floor-only membership is a better call and we'll be honest about it up front.

The class formats we run
Our weekly schedule includes coached strength classes, HIIT and conditioning classes, HYROX-style race prep classes, and mixed modality classes that blend strength and engine work in one session. Every class has a coach on the floor, always. Every class has a written program that lives on paper. Every class scales up or down to the athletes in the room.
New members start with a free trial class and a short movement screen so the coach knows how to scale for you day one.

How to use small-group fitness for weight loss, strength, and conditioning goals
For weight loss, small-group produces excellent results when combined with nutrition coaching. The class format solves the two biggest weight-loss failure points: consistency and intensity. Solo gym-goers under-train and skip sessions. Class members show up because there's a coach and a room expecting them, and the coach makes sure the intensity is high enough to matter.
For strength, our 6-week strength blocks progress squat, deadlift, press, and pull movements with real load and real programming. Most members hit lifetime strength PRs within the first year, including members who came in thinking they were 'not strong.'
For conditioning, the ski erg, rower, air bike, and sled work builds the engine that carries over to HYROX, running events, and daily life. Corpus Christi is a running town, Beach to Bay, Half Marathon, Turkey Trot, and our small-group members run faster, less injured, than they did before.

The community piece, why the room matters
Every fitness study on adherence lands on the same conclusion: the strongest predictor of whether an adult keeps training long-term is whether they've built social connection at the gym. That's why we cap classes at 4, 8. Above that number a class becomes a room of strangers; at 4, 8 it becomes a team.
Members at AE know each other's names, their kids' names, their jobs, and their PRs. New members are introduced. Someone notices when you miss a week. That is the invisible engine behind long-term results, the reason a Corpus Christi teacher, nurse, or small-business owner still shows up at 6am in year three, not just year one.
What actually happens, week by week.

It's not a decision anymore
Class is on the calendar the way work meetings are. Your body composition reflects it.
"The people who train together for a year change together. That's the whole game, build a room where showing up isn't lonely and results become inevitable."

Small Group Fitness at AE Fitness vs. a big-box gym.
Frequently asked questions.
What's the difference between small-group fitness and personal training?
Personal training is 1-on-1 with a fully custom program. Small-group is 4, 8 athletes running the same class programming with a coach scaling to each person. Small-group is a lower per-session cost with much of the coaching quality.
How much do small-group classes cost in Corpus Christi?
Class memberships are month-to-month and typically far more affordable than private training. Unlimited class access is included in most AE Fitness memberships.
How many people are in each class?
Every class caps at 4, 8 athletes. That cap is non-negotiable, it's the entire point of the model.
Are the classes beginner-friendly?
Yes. Every movement scales. New members get a movement screen before their first class so the coach knows exactly how to scale for them.
Do I need to book classes in advance?
Yes. Class caps mean you'll want to reserve your spot in the app. Waitlist auto-promotion is available.
Can I combine small-group with personal training?
Yes, this is the highest-ROI combination for most members. Your coach will map which classes fit your personal training program.
Do I have to be in shape before starting classes?
No, that's the biggest myth in Corpus Christi group fitness. About half of our new class members hadn't trained in over a year on day one. Every movement scales.
What time are classes offered?
Monday through Thursday classes are at 5 AM, 6 AM, 8:30 AM, noon, 5 PM, and 6 PM. Friday classes are at 5 AM, 6 AM, 8:30 AM, noon, and 5 PM. Weekend classes are at 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM, with both Sunday classes dedicated to HYROX training.
How many classes per week should I do?
For most goals, 3, 4 classes per week is the sweet spot. Some members do 5, 6 with a coach-managed intensity mix; 2 per week works well when combined with personal training.
Is there a contract or cancellation fee?
No. All memberships are month-to-month with no cancellation fees, ever.
Can I try a class before joining?
Yes, the first class is free. Book a free trial class from any page on the site.
What should I bring to my first class?
Athletic clothes, indoor training shoes, and a water bottle. We provide everything else.
